Right To Play

One architecture while the team kept changing

Architect / Lead Developer – Atos Origin

Jun 2007 – May 2009

Right To Play is a non-profit that helps children in difficult situations around the world through sport and play. Atos Origin supported it with a long-running project to improve its internal process management.

The team changed all the time. Developers, requirements engineers and testers joined while they were between client projects. That made continuity the main challenge. Together with the project manager, I formed the part-time core team. As architect I owned the architecture and the deployments, turned specifications into technical designs with the requirements engineers, managed the development process and coached every new developer who joined.

As an Architect and Lead Developer, my responsibilities included:

  • Defining and maintaining the architecture of the system
  • Managing the development process and the deployments, with continuous integration
  • Working out specifications with the requirements engineers
  • Coaching a constantly changing team of developers
