Internal web shop replacing paper orders

Lead Software Engineer / .NET Architect – Atos Origin

Mar 2008 – Nov 2008

ING had outsourced most of its workplace and IT management to external partners, but ordering PCs, phones and accessories still went through paper forms, signed by an authorized manager and sent to one of the partners.

The paper process became a digital one. I led the development of a web shop on SharePoint 2007 where an order starts an approval process with tasks for the authorized managers, and approved orders are forwarded to the right partner automatically.

As architect I set up the application architecture, and as lead developer I guided a team of five developers. Together with stakeholders and requirements engineers I worked out the functionality and how to implement it. We worked agile, with continuous integration, dependency injection and separate environments for development, test, acceptance and production.

As a Lead Software Engineer and .NET Architect, my responsibilities included:

  • Designing the application architecture of the web shop and its approval process
  • Leading a team of five developers
  • Working out the functionality with stakeholders and requirements engineers
  • Setting up continuous integration and the DTAP environments
