KPN

Support platform finished and shipped with Docker

Senior Software Engineer – e-office

Feb 2014 – Jun 2014

For KPN, the Dutch telecom company, I worked with one other developer on a support platform where questions are asked and answered, similar to Stack Overflow. The full-stack JavaScript application was still in development and needed to be completed, stabilized and made deployable.

We completed it, fixed the bugs and made it deployable. The most interesting part was the deployment: we packaged the application with Docker, early in 2014, when Docker itself had not yet reached version 1.0, and deployed it onto KPN's own infrastructure.

As a Senior Software Engineer, my responsibilities included:

  • Completing and stabilizing a Node.js and Backbone application
  • Fixing bugs across the frontend and the backend
  • Packaging the application with Docker, before Docker 1.0
  • Deploying it onto KPN's own infrastructure
